Prior to starting the blog, I thought of every reason under the sun and in the universe of why the blog would not be successful.
“No one is interested in what I have to say?”
“My writing sounds dumb.”
“I’m the only one who laughs at my jokes.”
“No one would understand me”
“Others do it better than me”
“There are a lot of bloggers out there and there’s not enough room for me.”
As a matter of fact, quite often I come up with reasons not to pursue any of my goals.
Goal #1: Exercise Regularly
“I don’t have the time.”
“I’m too tired.”
“I don’t want to take time away from my daughter.”
“I’m not a morning person and after baby girl goes to sleep I want to go to sleep too.”
Goal #2: Eat Healthy
“But I want those lemon pepper chicken wings and French fries!”
“I’ll start on Monday!”
“I need a chef!”
“Mmm….red velvet cheesecake!”
Goal #3: Being Organized
“My mind doesn’t think to organize”
“I’ll put that up later”
“I just need someone to do it for me”
“I need a maid” (I really do need a maid…ok, I want a maid and if it’s the last thing I do, I will have a maid!!!)
Goal #4: Increase my devotional time
“The bible makes me sleepy”
“God knows my heart”
“I’ll read “Empowerment Pages: 40 days of Encouragement for Empowered Living” by Dameon Madison while laying in bed….wait, was that me snoring?” (shameless plug for the hubby, get your copy today at www.demadison.org!)
“I talk to God all day long (usually asking Him for something…yeah I can be self-centered like that)”
Talk about never accomplishing anything! It’s exhausting! Basically the days of my life kept passing and all I managed to do was build a comprehensive list of excuses and defeatist thoughts.
Something had to change!
The first thing I needed to do was create a new list that would motivate me to accomplish my goals.
Goal Motivator List
There’s never enough time, but I make time for what I want
So what if others don’t like my blog, there’s a few who do and my jokes are hilarious to me
God knows my heart but He wants me to know His too
A little organization frees up so much time
Eat healthy or continue to gain weight
No exercise = No energy to play with my baby girl
There is always room for the gifts you offer the world
It worked! The new list motivates me to put more effort towards my goals.
- I started the blog (as if you did not realize that) and I absolutely love writing, posting, and reading the responses from my followers. I love you all! You complete me!
- The hubby and I began practicing the Paleo diet (I’ll post a review on the diet soon) and as a result I’ve lost 16lbs and he lost 22lbs (Men make me sick when it comes to losing weight. He lost that while still indulging in baby snickers and froot loops.)
- I’ve been exercising more and that’s because of the wonderful FitBit challenges (I’ll have to post about that as well).
- I’m still working on my other goals and know that as I continue to grow my new list, I will accomplish more.
